Dear Beloved Church Family,
As I write to you this morning, chirping birds, green lawns, and buds on the trees remind me that life springs anew. And in these great 50 days of Easter, I am reminded that New Life walks beside us through this difficult season of sheltering-in-place, physical distancing, and economic turmoil. Sometimes, lament is the journey the leads us to new life and new perspectives.
Although we are offering worship services online each Sunday, I am looking forward to the time when we can gather together once more in our beautiful sanctuary for worship. Thank you for your patience during this time. Thank you for your faithful stewardship in sending in your tithes. Thank you for your prayers and all the ways you are caring for each other and for your pastor!
We have a transition team in place and are working towards making our church building a safe environment for in-person worship. We are being guided by the CDC, Health Department, and Bishop Malone. Friends, the bottom line is that in-person gathering is going to look different. Social distancing, hand washing/sanitizer, and regularly sanitizing our space will be our new normal. Please let us know if you would like a face mask and we will see that you get one. Guidelines for gathering will be sent to you prior to our first Sunday back – we hope to have a date soon.
In the meantime, we continue to offer online worship services each Sunday on Facebook and also a weekly prayer and devotion time through Zoom on Wednesdays. We are also connecting through our community groups. It is my intention to continue these for the foreseeable future. Our new mission field may very well be online worship – we are reaching new people through our online efforts each Sunday! Beloveds, be encouraged, and be well.
Love and peace,
Pastor Jenny Whitmore
